Estimates 1-year major bleeding risk for oral anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation.
Algorithm Checklist Parameters:
- Hypertension (SBP > 160 mmHg)
- Abnormal Renal Function (Dialysis, transplant, or Cr ≥ 2.26 mg/dL)
- Abnormal Liver Function (Cirrhosis, bilirubin > 2x, or LFTs > 3x normal)
- Prior history of stroke/TIA
- Prior major bleeding or bleeding predisposition
- Labile INRs (time in therapeutic range < 60%)
- Elderly (Age ≥ 65 years)
- Aspirin, Clopidogrel, or NSAIDs
- Alcohol abuse (≥ 8 drinks per week)
Primary Clinical Application:
Assess risk-benefit of anticoagulation therapy and optimize modifiable bleeding factors.
