Implements the NCCN Distress Thermometer to identify psychosocial distress burdens in active oncology clinics.
Algorithm Checklist Parameters:
- Subjective Distress Level (0: No distress, 10: Extreme distress)
- Practical difficulties (housing, food security, transportation, insurance)
- Emotional struggles (fears of recurrence, anxiety, depression, hopelessness)
- Severe physical symptoms (uncontrolled medical pain, severe fatigue, dry mouth)
Primary Clinical Application:
Systemic screening triggers referrals to clinical psychology, psychiatry, financial counselors, or chaplain services.
