MASCC Risk Index for Febrile Neutropenia

Bedside Tool Interface Configuration
Implements the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) risk index to stratify complication or severe adverse outcome risk in cancer patients presenting with febrile neutropenia.
Algorithm Checklist Parameters:
- 1. Severity of febrile neutropenia symptoms
- 2. Patient has NO clinical hypotension (BP systolic ≥ 90 mmHg)? (+5 Pts)
- 3. Patient has NO history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)? (+4 Pts)
- 4. Solid tumor OR hematological cancer with NO prior invasive fungal infection? (+4 Pts)
- 5. Patient has NO clinical dehydration requiring intravenous fluids? (+3 Pts)
- 6. Outpatient status at onset of physical fever? (+3 Pts)
- 7. Patient age is under 60 years old? (+2 Pts)
Primary Clinical Application:
Identifies hematological or solid cancer patients representing lower risk of fever-related septic shock, qualifying them for safe outpatient oral antibiotic discharge.
