A clinical decision rule to safely rule out pulmonary embolism without ordering D-Dimer test markers.
Algorithm Checklist Parameters:
- Age ≥ 50 years?
- Heart Rate ≥ 100 bpm?
- SpOâ‚‚ on room air < 95%?
- Unilateral leg swelling?
- Hemoptysis (coughing up blood)?
- Recent trauma or surgery (within 4 weeks)?
- Prior history of DVT or PE?
- Oral hormone/estrogen use?
Primary Clinical Application:
Applied to emergency department patients with a very low pre-test probability of PE to reduce testing.
