Bedside Tool Interface Configuration
Bedsides score to gauge pre-test clinical probability of pulmonary embolism (PE) to direct diagnostics (D-dimer vs CTPA).
Algorithm Checklist Parameters:
- Clinically suspect DVT (leg swelling, tenderness)
- An alternative diagnosis is less likely than PE
- Heart Rate > 100 beats per minute
- Immobilized ≥ 3 days or surgery in past 4 weeks
- Prior history of objective DVT or PE
- Active Hemoptysis (coughing blood)
- Active Cancer under active treatment within 6 months
Primary Clinical Application:
Avoid unnecessary contrast-enhanced CT pulmonary angiograms in low-risk patients.
